How do people seeking services find me on Servana?
It’s easy. They don’t even have to be a member to search. They can browse our database to find what they're looking for. Then, when they’re ready to send a Work Request and communicate with you, they can just sign up for a free membership. That’s all it takes. Easy, schmeezy!
What can I do to increase the chances of seekers finding and using my services?
It all starts with your Killer Profile. (See Example) You want one that rocks! (Don’t worry, we’ll show you how to do it).
You’re gonna have to learn how to brag—you know, list all of the services you offer, tell about your previous experience, provide testimonials—all the stuff that inspires confidence and trust.
You can “go viral.” Send emails to your contacts and invite them to visit your Servana profile. Invite them to bring their friends. Word of mouth from people who know you can be great advertising.
Servana also gives you ways to promote your profile and services with coupons, and profile customization. We’ll walk you through all the steps.
I received a Work Request. Now what do I do?
Congratulations! You’re on your way! Accept the Work Request right away and follow up with a personal message you can send through Servana or the contact information provided. Don’t procrastinate--you may be competing with others who also received a Work Request.
Getting right back to them sets the tone. It says, “I’m a professional, and I’m interested in working with you.”
You can communicate by sending messages to each other through the Work Request, keeping your personal contact info private for as long as you like. We’ll track and save all of your messages pertaining to that Work Request. We’ll create your “electronic paper trail” that helps you stay organized.
And if you decide to work together again, all the details of your previous Work Requests are at your fingertips. Easy, fast, organized.
I run a business. Is Servana for me?
You bet! You can offer your services to people in your neighborhood or across the country.
You can also find what you need when you need it. Servana can help you find virtual or occasional help for projects, and for busy times. Whether you need someone around the corner or across the country, Servana makes it easy to find the services you want.
I offer more than one type of service. Can I have more than one profile?
We like to make it easy. That’s why you only have to create one profile. You can list up to ten different services in your profile.
When someone searches for a service you offer and your profile comes up, the service they were searching for is featured. And the cool thing is that they’ll also see links to your other services. So who knows? They may decide to hire you for those, too!
Can I add links to my own website in my Servana profile?
Of course! In fact, we make it extremely easy for you to feature your website and social media profiles right on your Servana profile.
How do I get paid once I do work for someone?
It’s up to you. That’s the beauty of Servana. We want to make it simple and inexpensive for everyone to work together. Once you respond to a Work Invite, and are chosen to provide the services, you work out your own deal with the client. Servana takes no commission, and doesn’t control your transaction. We just bring buyers and sellers together and help you manage your communications—all for free. Can you believe it?
Does Servana take a commission on the money I earn or pay to another member?
Nope. We take nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
If membership on Servana is free, how does the site make money?
Good question! We don’t charge you to be a member, create a Killer Profile, or to seek services. Amazing, huh!
The only fee service providers must pay is a nominal lead fee when you decide to respond to a Work Request that interests you– from an actual person interested in your services.
And for a limited time all leads are FREE of charge! We know...Unbelievable!
Servana will also be offering Premium Membership for a small fee, which will give you access to all kinds of advanced training and mentoring and other bells and whistles to help you make your business successful.
Premium membership isn't required. You can upgrade any time. This way, you'll only pay for what you need, when you need it.
What is a “lead fee”, and how and when is it charged?
A lead fee refers to the amount Servana charges you when someone sends you a Work Request you’re interested in doing the work, and you respond to the person.
You don’t have to say “yes,” though.
You may have a time conflict, you don’t feel the right vibe from their profile, or the job description just isn’t something you’re interested in. You make the call. You’re in control. You’d simply post a “no thanks,” and would not pay a lead fee.
Don’t forget. So that you have an opportunity to try out all we have to offer Servana is offering all leads completely FREE of charge for a period of time! You sure can’t beat that!
When I respond to a Work Request, does that mean I have the job?
No. A Work Request means your fellow Servana member is interested in your services, but it’s not a done deal until you respond and they choose to hire you.
There are a few reasons why a Work Request may not lead to a job. The member may have sent Work Requests to more than one person to get competitive bids, or to make sure at least one of you was available at the time they needed.
They – or you – may decide after talking or meeting that you just don’t click.
The good thing is, if they sent you a Work Request, they’ve reviewed your profile, decided you were a good match, and want to hear from you.
I don’t see the service I want to offer listed on Servana. What do I do?
Celebrate! You’ll have less competition due to your uniqueness!
Be innovative. We want to make it easy for people to connect with you, no matter how unusual your service is.
Just enter a name for your service in the field provided when you set up your profile. Use language that someone would use to look for something like what you do. Think of occasions when your service might be used.
You can also create new specialties for your services. That way people will know that you do exactly what they are looking for. You have options!
Now is a good time for us to tell you that, well, there are just some services you can’t offer on Servana. I’m sure your imagination could come up with a few. But if you want to see what they might be, check out our Terms of Use. You can figure it this way—if it’s illegal in the “real world,” it’s not allowed on Servana.
How is Servana different from other freelancing sites or job sites?
We know there are a lot of sites for freelancers already out there, most of which specialize in particular types of services.
At Servana, we want to make it simple for anyone to offer any service to anyone, anywhere in the country, and soon, anywhere in the world.
We see the world as one big neighborhood full of talented people who need each other.
It’s the place to come if you’re looking for a chef or a chiropractor, an accountant or an acting coach, a babysitter or a bookkeeper. Or if you are any – or all – of these.
You see, Servana doesn’t force you into a box where you can only do or be just one thing. Here, you can offer as many talents as you’ve got. We think boxes are a little too much like cubicles.
Unlike other sites for service providers, Servana doesn’t charge a membership fee. And our members can offer services or look for services or both. You have options!
What’s more, we don’t charge a commission on any work done by members or for members. Your relationship is your own. You do it your way. We just help you find each other in the simplest, easiest way on the web.
Oh, and we think we are way more fun! We think you’ll agree once you get started.
I’m already on another site for freelancers. Why should I join Servana?
Well, why shouldn’t you? It’s free. It’s easy. You can still keep up your memberships on other sites. Some of them are great.
But being a Servana member exposes you to even more people and helps you find new customers and service providers. We can be a great addition to whatever you’re already doing to get business.
Servana is also a great place to try out offering another type of service other freelance sites might not support—because you can list all kinds of services on Servana.
We’re not into red tape. We don’t monitor how much you earn, force your customers to put money into escrow, or impose any restrictions. This might work better for you—and for your customers.
The way we figure it, you have nothing to lose—and lots to gain.
I don’t see anyone in my area offering the service I need. Can Servana help me find someone?
We can! Servana hosts a job board where members can post requests for any kind of service. There may be a Servana member right now who didn’t list the service you need but actually can do it. They can see your post and get in touch.
New members are joining Servana all the time. Even if the right provider wasn’t there the last time you looked, if your job is up there, help may be only a day – or even an hour – away!
Isn’t Servana just another social networking site?
We wouldn’t do that to you. We’re all tired of getting swamped with emails from our friends to join yet another social networking site. Who has time?
Servana does connect people, and to do that we use a lot of the more useful features of social networking sites. But unlike some of them, we actually have a specific purpose: to help people who have services to offer sell them for real money to people who need them.
Can I link to my Servana profile on my own website or my Facebook or MySpace page?
You can and you should! The more people who know about your Servana profile, the more likely it is that you’ll get work. In fact, we make it very easy for you to showcase your website and other social networking profiles right on your Servana profile. And you can also use your Servana profile to share your recommended service providers with all your friends. Everybody wins!
Can Servana help me advertise my services?
Yes! We have big plans for our Premium Members going forward that will help you look great and promote yourself to the Servana community and beyond. And we’re putting the marketing power of Servana behind you as we purchase keywords that will drive your potential customers from all over the internet to your profile.
Of course, word of mouth is the best advertising. Even with a Basic membership, you can get the word out by emailing your Servana profile to everyone you know and linking to it from your Facebook, MySpace or LinkedIn page. Getting recommended by other members is another great way to get exposure.
