Artistry is a broad field that describes a number of different professions and techniques. Artists create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or passions in an attractive and noticeable way. Their work can range from big murals to tiny sculptures. Professional artists generally fall into one or more of four categories including, craft artists, fine artists, multimedia artists, and art directors. Craft artists are skilled in creating or reproducing handmade objects for sale or for exhibition. Fine artists include painters, sculptors, and illustrators. They create original pieces using a wide variety of media technology and techniques. Multimedia artists and animators create visual images, special effects, animation, or other images on film, video, computers, or with other electronic media. Art directors formulate the concepts and presentational approaches for visual communications most commonly for newspapers, magazines, and periodicals. Artists also do consultation with individuals and companies for advice in design and decoration, and to create unique originals based upon a certain set of parameters.
