Babysitter

Babysitters are individuals who are hired to watch children for brief periods of time while the parents are away. Generally, babysitters arrive at the home of the children they're watching, and stay while the parents go out, watching the children and taking care of their needs. Depending on the age of the children in question, babysitters may be called upon to change diapers, feed them, limited academic tutoring and helping with homework, read to them, put them to bed, and a wide variety of other tasks. Babysitters are relied upon to be responsible individuals who can be trusted to be focused and mindful of meeting the needs of the children they're watching, and to be ready to handle emergency situations if they arise. In general, it's good for babysitters to have some knowledge of basic life saving techniques such as CPR, and the Heimlich maneuver. It is also recommended that babysitters have access to a handful of emergency numbers, such as the poison control center.
