Cartoonist

Cartoonists are artists who work with a specific medium of art, the cartoon. Cartoons are generally hand drawn caricatures, similar to sketches, that are either static or mobile, depending on the subject matter and application, and are usually considered forms of comedy or social commentary aimed at society, the economy, or political figures. Modern cartoonists have a variety of options and opportunities available to them, with the latest in computer technologies, and often work in the realm of comic strips for newspapers, television shows, comic book manufacturers, or for companies wanting to promote goods and services through this form of art. Cartooning is even beginning to extend its reach, building an internet presence with webcomics. Cartoonists often work in large advertising firms, bringing their unique form of art to the print and media world on behalf of their clients. Cartoonists also might work on a number of different projects, including clothing design, greeting cards, coffee mugs, books, etc.
