Drywall installers, also known as framers and hangers, are professional contractors who work on construction sites with other builders and install the interior walls and ceilings that are used in most modern buildings. Drywall is a thin layer of gypsum between two layers of heavy construction paper. Drywall installers hang, or mount drywall onto the wooden or metal studs of buildings being erected. Some drywall installers specialize in the hanging of the drywall, while others specialize in the taping of the seams, in order to maintain a tight seal and cover imperfections, but most drywall installers are experts and experienced in both jobs. Because of the fact that drywall comes in standard sheets and sizes, drywall installers must be able to measure, cut, and hang drywall to meet any shape and size, and must install the drywall to form a full seal in order to prevent energy loss from the various rooms. Their main responsibility is to ensure that the drywall is fully fastened to its frame and fully sealed, and that the rooms look proper, with any imperfections covered up.
