Electricians are professionals who work with the complex wiring of buildings and other systems. Electricians bring electricity from the main lines into businesses, residential homes, and factories, according to the correct codes and regulations in place. They install the many necessary components – the metal wiring, fuses, circuit breaker boxes, etc – through which electricity flows, by connecting wires to transformers, outlets, circuit breakers, and other components safely. They join wires together inside boxes with various specially designed connectors. Electricians wire lighting, heating, air conditioning, appliances, switches, and more. Beyond that, many electricians also install and maintain the electrical machines inside factories. Electricians generally work in one of two major fields, installing new wiring during the construction of buildings, or repairing and doing ongoing maintenance on older electrical systems. In recent years, electricians have begun learning the components necessary in drawing energy from green, eco-friendly systems, such as solar and wind powered systems.
