Fire Protection
|
Fire protection professionals are experts in fire safety measures for homes and businesses to protect both the interior and exterior structures of buildings and property from the threat of fire. In order to do this, fire protection professionals use fire retardant materials for the roof and outer structures of buildings, and install fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and sprinkler systems throughout a building's interior. Fire protection specialists also provide training for employees and homeowners in the use of fire extinguishers and other fire protection and prevention methods, and where safe places exist to store combustible materials. In addition they also may be called upon to survey and analyze the interior design of buildings in order to create evacuation plans and make recommendations and determinate where fire doors and other preventive technology should be installed.
In general fire protection professionals teach and try to raise awareness on good safety practices, the issues that can cause outbreaks of fires, and how to notice potential hazards before they ignite into serious problems.
