Florists are professional flower distributors who sell individual flowers, bouquets, and whole floral arrangements for any number of uses. Often, florists are hired to make elegant, complicated, and unique floral arrangements for a variety of important events such as weddings, parties, and birthdays. These arrangements may decorate tables as centerpieces, walls, trellises, among other things. Flowers are also often purchased individually or in bouquets, as gifts for special occasions like anniversaries, or just as simple gestures of affection. Generally, a florist's main responsibility is to work quickly and carefully, keeping their flowers both fresh and vibrant, and delivering them in that manner to important events, in order to ensure the highest level of quality possible for such transitory decorations. Florists sometimes specialize in exotic flowers or roses, and some florists, on occasion, may also be called upon for very large projects, such as building floats in parades, such as the rose parade.
