Insurance Broker
|
An insurance broker is an expert agent who assists individual persons, families, and businesses select simple or comprehensive insurance policies that give them the best protection and coverage for their lives, their health, and their property. There are many different forms of insurance, including health, property, life, casualty, homeowner, disability, etc. Property and casualty insurance agents sell policies that provide protection to individuals and businesses from financial loss in the form of automobile accidents, fire, theft, storms, and other events that can damage a house, a business, a car, or other forms of property. For businesses, property and casualty insurance can also cover multiple items such as injured workers' compensation, product liability claims, and medical malpractice claims.
Life insurance agents sell policies that pay a list of beneficiaries when a policyholder dies. In addition, a cash-value policy can be setup to provide retirement income, money for the education of children, and other sources of income. Health insurance agents sell policies for health coverage that either reduce or eliminate the costs of medical care and lost income due to sickness or injury. In addition, they may sell dental insurance and short-term and long-term-disability. On the whole, insurance agents may have expertise or specialize in any one of these product areas, or function as generalists, providing multiple products to a single customer.
