Interior Design
|
Interior designers are experts who rely upon a variety of aspects of artistic and technical disciplines to enhance the aesthetic beauty, function, and safety of an interior space. Depending on the needs of their clients, interior designers are mainly concerned with how the different colors, accents, furniture, textures, lighting, and open space flow and work together. Though they may specialize in the layout of one or more kind of interior space, such as home or small business, interior designers plan and design offices, theaters, airport terminals, restaurants, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, schools, and private residences.
Research has shown that interior design enhancement can increase the productivity in an office, boost sales, attract clientele, improve hospital stays, and increase the market value of a building. Traditionally, interior designers focused primarily on decoration, on choosing the style and colors of their interior space, and afterward, selecting the appropriate furniture, floor and window accessories and coverings, artwork pieces, and lighting. Nowadays however, more and more interior designers are becoming involved in the architectural design, such as crown molding, built-in bookshelves, and the locations of windows, stairways, escalators, and walkways.
