Nanny (Long Term Caregiver)
|
Nannies are longterm caregivers for children of families. In general, nannies are hired as an alternative to daycare. Nannies either live with the household they are assisting or else arrive in the morning each morning, and work all day until evening when the parents return home. Typically, nannies should be responsible, trustworthy individuals who are good role models for children and able to keep their calm in emergencies. Nannies have a wide variety of responsibilities that all revolve around meeting the many daily needs of children including feeding them multiple nutritional meals, helping them with homework, transporting them to various appointments and sports activities, helping them with cleanup, and making sure they stay out of trouble.
Nannies generally work a normal workweek, between Monday and Friday, but sometimes, nannies are called upon for fulltime service and stay for extended periods of time with the family employing them. Depending on the needs of each client and the ability of each nanny, the two parties form an agreement, schedule, and reasonable expectations that both parties abide by. On occasion, nannies also give assistance in elder care as well, though this is much more rare.
