Notary Services
|
Notary publics are qualified, professional witnesses legally empowered to witness and record signatures, certifying a document's validity. They also take depositions and administer oaths in court. Notary publics are responsible to give validity to contracts and documents, removing the potential for error and forgery in dealings between one or more parties. Generally, notary publics work as private individuals, though they also often work for courtrooms. They emboss documents with a special seal, certifying their notarization and authenticity.
Any kind of written document may be notarized, depending on the clients needs and wants, but generally notary publics notarize signed documents that become legal contracts, to prepare them for becoming legal, binding contracts. Notary publics will also generally mail documents that have been notarized in order to ensure that the document was received properly, to remove the sender from any worry that important documents were lost or stolen in transition from one place to the next.
