Personal Counselor
|
Personal counselors can be broken into different classifications: personal, vocational or career, and academic. Counselors are responsible to assist people with a wide variety of concerns and problems including personal, family, educational, mental health, and career. Counselors are familiar with the anxiety and stress that can arise from societal and emotional pressures and help their clients understand, deal, and cope with these challenges, and teaching them approaches and habits to deal with these stresses in the future, increasing their ultimate wellbeing.
The duties of a counselor vary greatly depending on their occupational specialty, which is determined by the setting in which they work and the population they serve, and often, once a counselor evaluates their patient, will refer them to another specialist. But the one overarching duty of a personal counselor is to listen to the situations and difficulties of their clients, understanding their mindset and what they're going through, helping and encouraging them to open up if they have a difficulty in sharing personal information.
