Plumbing
|
Plumbers are professional trade workers who install, maintain, and repair many different types of pipe systems that transport the liquids used in homes, businesses, and industrial complexes. Plumbers, depending on their specialty, do a number of different jobs and may have different titles, such as pipelayers, pipefitters, or steamlayers. Plumbers generally fall into one of major two categories: those who work as contractors on construction projects with other builders, installing new pipes into new buildings being erected, and those who service existing systems, unclogging blocked pipes and fixing breaks and leaks.
Depending on the needs of their clients and specialty of the plumber, different hardware and materials are used. Some plumbers install and maintain copper pipes in homes, others may install huge clay or cement pipes for sewer lines or industrial use, while still others may work with high pressure lines in an industrial building. But regardless or the job, all plumbers are experts in connecting pipes and sealing them to hold and transport pressurized liquids throughout a defined area.
