Sports Trainer
|
Sports trainers, also known as athletic trainers, are professional coaches who train individuals in the many complex aspects of sporting games, helping them to hone and improve their skills. Sports trainers usually specialize in one specific sport, whether it be football, baseball, tennis, volleyball, lacrosse, water polo, golf, or many others. Sports trainers are experts on the sport they coach, from basic fundamentals, to proper exercising habits, to complex strategies and techniques for top players. Sports trainers are similar to sports coaches in that they train individuals in the fundamentals and basic methods of a sport, but they generally tend to work one on one with individuals and are extracurricular, usually meeting with their clients weekly or biweekly for sessions and training, depending on the needs of the client.
Sports trainers are generally either active players in the sport they instruct, or else retired from the sport they're instructing, though that isn't always the case. Sports trainers generally operate on the field, meeting their clients at golf courses, batting cages, etc, depending on the sport. Some sports trainers also specialize in kinesiology, or physical therapy, helping players recover from injuries, and other sports trainers specialize in helping players deal with the stresses that come with being a top player at any given sport.
