Wedding Officiating
|
Wedding officiators are professional individuals certified in joining two individuals as husband and wife in the legal contract known as marriage. Most often ordained clergy of some type in the local community, wedding officiators perform the wedding ceremony by taking vows, pledges, and reciting traditional lines and rituals. Weddings can take place at almost any venue, including churches, houses, outdoor areas, boats, and more, and wedding officiators are invited along with the guests to both attend and officiate the wedding procedure. Wedding officiators can also be government employees who work at a local government facility, generally a city hall.
Nontraditional marriage contracts can be acquired by applying at city hall and having multiple persons to help witness and establish the marriage agreement. Wedding officiators who operate out of city hall may or may not perform an actual wedding cerimony of some sort. Most often, they recite the required lines to the couple in the presence of witnesses, and the wedding contract is established.
